Planet Earth Fiber!
Look at this luscious pile of threads! don’t you just want to start stitching now? This thread assortment is Planet Earth Fiber and is quickly becoming one of my new favorites! I came across a few skeins of this silk in my stash that I had bought when I was in Mindy’s shop last year, just because I just might need that color someday. Well someday got here sooner than I thought as they were to my eye the perfect greens for the leaves in the Rainbow Birds! I am also using the 6 ply strand-able silk in the Needle Deeva Hearts namely Fern, Fiddlehead and Burnt Toast. The greens are also just the perfect colors for the Easter House too! This silk has a slight twist to it, the sheen is amazing and I love it. So far I have just been stitching basketweave with it, but I will experiment with decorative stitches too.
In their line, they also have Planet Earth Silk which is a meant to be stitched with as is and not to be stranded. Silk Opal which is the same silk and has an additional spin of metallic added to it, giving your work just a little sparkle. I have used this for Christmas ornaments and it is perfect!
Planet Earth Merino Wool is also another thread in their needlepoint line of threads. I have not used this one yet, but the white named “Cloud” looks very white!I first discovered Planet Earth Fiber in the knitting section of the trade shows. The yarn that caught my eye is a yarn that has beads or sequins added to it! It really is not stitchable into the canvas, but could be easily couched for some wonderful effects and I am going to try it someday. |

| Opal is made from silk with a metallic fiber. There is 22 yards in each scan.
This is a portion of a belt with a dauchound. Hey……. that looks like my dog, Gertrude. I wonder if she wears a needlepoint belt when she is out on the golf course? :) |

Foxview forwarded an image of this canvas using the Planet Earth 6 ply silk.
It is called Dove In The Window. It was designed for the Master Teacher Program of the ANG.
It is based on a quilt square. It utilizes 2 Planet Earth threads, along with Splendor, Kreinik and Threadworx.The stitches include Chevron, Rotating Cushion, Large Eyelet Variation with triple cross, padded diagonal scotch variation and more. |

| When a nationally known, highly respected teacher contacts me to tell me about a thread she especially likes, I feel I should check it out. So when Sue Reed sent information about Planet Earth Fiber, I wasted no time in contacting the company for more information. The main point that the Planet Earth Fiber folks wanted me to share with you is that their silk threads are “no pill“. They say that their lovely, hand- painted threads won’t pill while you’re stitching with them, nor after the project is finished. |
| This would be especially good with their Single Strand Silk. It’s a one-strand twisted silk about the size of pearl cotton #3. It provides excellent coverage on #13 canvas, has a beautiful luster, and a wonderful color range, with as many as four or five values per family. The thread just has a really nice feel in your hands as you stitch with it. Also from Planet Earth Fiber is 6-Ply Silk. You can easily separate the strands for the amount of coverage your design requires; three or four strands are perfect for #18 canvas. It also has a beautiful luster and, according to the company, will not pill. |

| We have added a three new families to our needlepoint line……. shades of purples, blues and greens. They have just gone out so check your needlepoint store. The new colors are on the way. |
